Greetings and welcome to the FIRST Mindful Monday! Expect to see a post every Monday with thoughts and information on the emotional side of your wellness journey. In this first post I wanted to take the time to thank you for giving thought to YOUR wellness. Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday and hopefully you are ready to commit to 40 Days of Fitness! Lent is spent asking ourselves what needs to change in our life and then to leave a stronger and more vital person of faith than when we started. 40 Days of Fitness is a journey of self-discovery with a plethora of information to help you understand the human body, how it works, and how you can apply it to you. For me, this year’s Lenten season will be a time of growth. In the past I have given up things and also, some years, have started something that would benefit my health, be it mentally/emotionally, physically, nutritiously, or spiritually. We all approach this season differently and for me I find that if I am wishing to change some aspect of my life for the better I will be more committed during Lent. I will be sharing more with each post and encourage you to share your thoughts as well. Have a great day today and an even better Fat Tuesday tomorrow!

Are you filling out your food journals? I know many people are not fans of a food journal, but I definitely am. It can tell you so much about yourself and what might be going on at the time. There might be days when you look back over them and think, “that was a great day because…”, or, “wow, I really need to think about planning ahead for that next celebration lunch….”. Sounds strange, I know, but it works. By adding as much information as possible you will be able to know what your triggers might be or what really doesn’t agree with your system. And by all means, don’t try to be perfect just because you’re writing it down. Remember, this is your journey and you won’t learn anything about yourself by not being realistic. Hmmm….didn’t you just read about being SMART in your 40 Days, Day 3???? Enjoy the rest of the day!!

I was approaching Lent and was thinking about getting to know myself better. It was all about reflection. I wrote the book in 40 days. I wanted to give information about fitness, wellness, and nutrition in a way that made sense to people. There is so much information out there on fitness and nutrition...it can be overwhelming. I wanted my readers to read a little each day and reflect. Goals? The book is all about goals. I want each of my readers to learn something new and take what they have read and make it their lifestyle. Fitness is not a 40 day regimen. It is a lifestyle! I just want my readers to read 40 Days of Fitness, reread it if you have to, and tell a friend about it. I know when I am fit and healthy I am a happier person. I just want to spread that knowledge and help others!
